Hello vze

Purpose of applying diagnostic label to identify and describe abnormal behavior are

To enable communication, regarding the diagnosis with other medical community

To facilitate comprehension of the underlying cause ( for example - There are disease which are known to have genetic inheritance, and if we are diagnosing a particular disease, automatically other can infer from the diagnosis and will search for genetic inheritance if that patient comes to them)

To aid prediction of the prognosis
(For example if someone has diagnosed Simple Schizophrenia which has a poor prognosis, and if he comes to me for second opinion I will tell him it has a poor prognosis )

Risk of using diagnostic labels to identify and describe abnormal behavior is

Social stigma to the patients

Patient no more a human but a label.
