Tonya, a health care worker was overheard on the elevator discussing Mr. Smith''s condition, she was elaborating about the seriousness of his illness and it would just be best if he could just “pass on”. Please discuss any improper and possible legal violations that have occurred.
This is a violation of patient privacy and of HIPPA. It's also unethical and in poor taste to make a judgement on whether a person should die or not; that is certainly not within a healthcare worker's scope.
