I was diagnosed with anodule on my lung. The nurse reporting the diagnosis said they usually wouldn't even mention it because it very small. She said they felt they should because I have sjogren's syndrome and wanted me to be aware of it so I can have it checked yearly to see if it gets bigger. Could this be cancer? It was found by a cat scan. Should I request more testing because I have so many health issues and if so, what tests? Thank you
Lung involvement is seen in around 14 % of patients with Sjogren's syndrome. This is usually in the form of diffuse involvemet shows as linear shadows on chest x-rays or CT scan. Sjogrens syndrome can also produce appearance of lung nodules.

Most single pulmonary nodules (smaller than 3 cm) are benign & noncancerous. The protocol for such nodules is serial yearly chest x-rays to see if there is any change in the size, shape & appearance of the nodule, indicative of possibility of cancer. If there is any change in the nodule, then it needs further investigations with CT scan, PET scan or tissue biopsy to see if its cancerous.
