PT is prothrombin time

PTT is partial thromboplastin time

INR is international normalized ratio

all the above mentioned tests are done for our clotting system...

asprin has no affect on PT or PTT or INR... it affects platelets..

please ask for clarifications and details if you want details on INR PT and PTT..

Relist: I still need help.
I want to know how these blood tests work and why doesn't aspirin affect them!
Expert:  Dr. Zia replied 8 years ago.

aspirin affects platelets and these blood tests do not depends upon platelets...

there are two things in our body that help our blood clot... one is our clotting system that consists of various proteins majority of which are made by the liver... and the other thing is the platelets... platelets are blood cells that help in clotting in addition to our blood clotting system...

so even if a person has a low platelet count PT, PTT, AND INR may be absolutely normal... because these tests do not involve platelets ..
