Customer Question

I have just had some blood test results back, my pheratin, tyroid, liver function & B12 - folic was normal but my doctor said I should make a fairly urgent appointment re my full blood count. What does this imply?

How old are you?

Why were you having your blood checked?

I have been feeling more tired than usual lately. I seem to have lost my va va voom. I am feeling more stressed lately (work) and have had headaches which my doctor diagnosed as tension. I went to see a chiropractor and had some treatment including accupuncture. This helped relieve some of the tension and so the headaches lessened. I am also taking citalopram (much to my disappointment) as compared to some people I have nothing to be unhappy about. I just have a constant fuzziness in the right hand side of my head. The medication does help but lately I have felt melancholic and forgetful.

Thanks for that.

As far as your FBC is concerned there are some problems that we can rule out.

1. iron deficiency - your ferritin is normal

2.b12 deficiency

3. anaemia - this is unlikely unless you have a folate deficiency

What we have to consider is other problems

1. low or high platelets

2. high or low white cell count

The physical symptoms that you have are unlikely to be associated with any of these possible problems.
