I am hearing a muffling sound in my left ear for the past hour. Should I be concerned? I am 40 Years young and have never had any ear problems. I did have this noise two other times in the last couple weeks, only it seems to be louder tonite. Any suggestions. Karen

This is called as tinnitus. Usually this is self remitting. But persistent tinnitus needs evaluation for internal ear problems. Anti-inflammatory analgesic, aspirin etc can cause the problem.
