I have a light red line going up my arm that feels painful ...

Customer Question

I have a light red line going up my arm that feels painful to the touch but there's no cut or sore, just a small blister on my middle finger. The line starts at my wrist, stops in the middle, then starts again above the inside of my elbow to my armpit. Should I go to emergncy room (like everyone is telling me too) or just make an appt. this week with a Doctor?

From your history most likely you are suffering from thrombophlebitis .
Thrombo means clot . Phlebitis is inflammation of a vein. Thrombophlebitis occurs when a blood clot causes inflammation in one or more of your veins . The affected vein may be near the surface of your skin, causing superficial thrombophlebitis .

Also this can be infective in origin .

As such you should definetly go to ER and not wait .
You may need I.V antibiotics at the hospital .
