My eyes water all the time. It is so bad that sometimes water runs down my face as if I were crying. Also after being asleep at night my eyes are sealed shut when I wake up the next morning. My eye lids sometimes are swollen. This is a real problem. Can you help me?

Hi.

Are both eyes equally affected?

Yes both eyes are equally affected. This has been going on for about 5 months now
Hi,
My wife is an Ophthalmologist and after reading your symptoms, this is her opinion-
By the symptoms you are describing it seems that you are suffering from allergic conjunctivitis. What you need to do is-
  • use OTC decongestant eye drops at least 3-4 times a day
  • Take benadrly morning and evening
  • use cold compresses (wet cotton or ice pack) on the eyelids
  • wear dark glasses or goggles on going out to reduce exposure to dust.
You should be all right in the next -3 days or so. If there is no improvement then you need to consult an Eye specialist

Do your eyes itch?

AI

Customer: replied 9 years ago.
Reply to Alexander Irvine's Post: They do not itch to much. Mostly water and very blurry vision.

That makes the "diagnosis" of allergic conjuctivitis very unlikely - prominent symptoms are itch, redness and some excess watering.

Do you have any redness of your eyes?

Is it worse at any special time of the day?

Are you in good health otherwise?

Does the blurriness clear if you blink?

AI

Customer: replied 9 years ago.
Yes I am in good health. Yes they clear if you blink alot.

Good.

Your history is more suggestive of blocked tear ducts.

An ophtlamologist could "probe" the ducts for you - that may be all that is required.
