The dictionary defines an organ as a group of tissue that perform a specific function or several functions. The skin is made up of many different groups of tissue, nerves, muscle fibers, hair follicles, glands, etc. It performs several functions such as regulating body temperature, prevents infection or contamination from reaching the inside of the body, and protects the underlying nerves and muscles among other things.
