Right kidney: There appears to be a hypoechoic nodule seen measuring approximately 17.2 x17.2 mm in size. I need to know what this means in plain english,Thanks?

In plain english it means that you have a kidney mass, possibly a tumor, the various causes include the followind and would require further investigations including CT and probably a FNAC (fine needle aspiration cytology) for the diagnosis.


The possible causes could include:



  • Renal abscess (pus collection)

  • Renal cancer

  • renal lymphoma (lymph node tumor)

  • Angiomyolipoma (benign non cancer tumors of the kidney)

  • Renal cysts
