syncope..hot flashes..menopause, fatigue, back pain not associated

Customer Question

Could multiple symptoms, such as hashimoto's thyroiditis, anxiety, weight gain, cardioneurogenic syncope, hot flashes not associated with menopause, fatigue, back pain not associated with injury or disease, be associated with each other? Could they be associated with the adrenal gland?

Hi Joni

I have been researching your question off and on for several hours now and cannot find a relationship to the adrenal gland. A lot of the symptoms you name could be related to the thyroiditis. I would also be curious as to what medications you are taking (or the person with these symptoms). Some of it could be related to the medications.

Reply to Kerry's Post: Kerry,
I am sorry it is so long to reply. Our credit cards were stolen and we had to wait for the new ones.

My meds are: Synthroid 0.5 qam; Neurontin 1200mg qam and 1800mg qhs; Prozac 60mg qhs; Seraquel 300mg qhs and 100mg qam; TopralXL 150mg qhs; Mirapex 25mg qhs (for restless leg syndrome); Provigil 400mg qam, Nexium 40mg qam.

Other things I did not tell you is that I use a CPAP machine for Obstructive Sleep Apnea.

All of this is probably not related, but I am almost desparate for answers.

I don't know if this helps, but it is worth a try. I am on call today and tonight so if I don't answer right away, I will answer when I can.

hi Joni

Thanks for getting back to me!

I have researched the medications you are taking, here are the possible side effects:

Synthroid 0.5 qam;

If you experience any of the following serious side effects, stop taking levothyroxine and seek emergency medical attention or contact your doctor immediately: an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives); vomiting;chest pain, irregular heartbeat, shortness of breath. Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take levothyroxine and talk to your doctor or try another similar medication if you experience tremor, nervousness, or irritability; headache; insomnia; diarrhea, changes in appetite, or weight loss; leg cramps;menstrual irregularities; or fever, sweating, or heat sensitivity.

Neurontin 1200mg qam and 1800mg qhs;

If you experience any of the following serious side effects, stop taking gabapentin and seek medical attention or contact your doctor immediately: an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives). Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take gabapentin and talk to your doctor if you experience dizziness, poor coordination, or drowsiness; blurred or double vision; irregular back-and- forth movements of the eyes; nausea and vomiting; or tremor. emotional lability (anxiety, behavior problems, crying, false sense of well-being, mental depression, reacting too quickly, too emotionally, or overreacting, rapidly changing moods); hostility (aggressive behavior, suspiciousness, or distrust); restlessness, hyperactivity or increase in body movements; amnesia (loss of memory); or thought disorders (concentration problems and change in school performance).

Prozac 60mg qhs;

If you experience any of the following serious side effects, stop taking fluoxetine and contact your doctor immediately or seek emergency medical treatment: an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives); an irregular heartbeat or pulse; low blood pressure (dizziness, weakness); high blood pressure (severe headache, blurred vision); chills or fever; unusual bleeding or bruising; a rash or hives. If you experience any of the following less serious side effects, continue taking fluoxetine and talk to your doctor: headache, tremor, nervousness, or anxiety; difficulty concentrating; nausea, diarrhea, dry mouth, or changes in appetite or weight; weakness; increased sweating; sleepiness or insomnia; or decreased sex drive, impotence, or difficulty having an orgasm.

Seroquel 300mg qhs and 100mg qam;

Stop taking Seroquel and seek emergency medical attention if you experience an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives) to Seroquel. Call your doctor immediately or seek medical attention if you experience uncontrollable movements of the mouth, tongue, cheeks, jaw, arms, or legs. Call your doctor immediately or seek medical attention if you experience fever, sweating, severe muscle stiffness (rigidity), confusion, fast or irregular heart beats. These could be symptoms of a potentially fatal side effect called Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS). Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take Seroquel and talk to your doctor if you experience dizziness or drowsiness; agitation; constipation; dry mouth; or weight gain.

TopralXL 150mg qhs;

If you experience any of the following serious side effects, stop taking metoprolol and contact your doctor immediately or seek emergency medical treatment: an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; hives); wheezing or shortness of breath; an unusually slow or irregular heartbeat; swelling of the feet and lower legs; leg pain or cramping; sudden weight gain (more than 2 pounds in one day or 5 pounds in one week); chest (heart) pain; unusually cold or blue feet and hands; or skin rash. If you experience any of the following less serious side effects, continue taking metoprolol and talk to your doctor: fatigue or confusion; headache or dizziness; weak pulse or mildly slow heart rate; diarrhea, constipation, gas, nausea, or vomiting; depression; or nightmares.

Mirapex 25mg qhs (for restless leg syndrome);

Stop taking pramipexole and seek emergency medical attention if you experience an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives). Notify your doctor immediately if you experience hallucinations, fainting, dizziness, drowsiness, falling asleep unexpectedly, or a blackout (especially when rising from a sitting or lying position). Your doctor may want to lower your dosage or discontinue this medication. Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take pramipexole and talk to your doctor if you experience mild nausea, vomiting, upset stomach, or decreased appetite; constipation; dry mouth; sweating; headache; confusion; insomnia; or agitation or anxiety.

Provigil 400mg qam,

If you experience any of the following uncommon but serious side effects, stop taking modafinil and seek emergency medical attention or contact your doctor immediately: an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives); irregular heartbeats; low or high blood pressure; or shortness of breath. Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take modafinil and talk to your doctor if you experience headache; infection; nausea, decreased appetite, or diarrhea; chills; dry mouth; runny nose; sore throat; nervousness; anxiety; dizziness; insomnia; depression; or numbness or tingling. Modafinil may be habit forming. You should discuss the abuse and dependence potential of modafinil with your doctor. Do not stop taking modafinil without first talking to your doctor. Your doctor may want to gradually lower the dose of the medication before stopping treatment.

Nexium 40mg qam.

If you experience an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives), stop taking esomeprazole and seek emergency medical attention.

Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take esomeprazole and talk to your doctor if you experienceheadache;diarrhea;nausea, flatulence, abdominal pain, or constipation; or dry mouth.

All the side effects listed above I obtained from www.drugs.com.

The other thing, what has your doctor said about it? Perhaps you need a second opinion? Also, make sure you have one doctor that knows what other doctors are prescribing and doing for you if there are other doctors. You might also want to ask your pharmacist for possible interactions with these drug combinations.

I sure hope I helped you! Please come back if you have more questions.
