Yes. You can still get strep as an adult with no tonsils but it much less likely. You can also get other throat infections.
Keep in mind that you can also be a carrier of strep throat with no tonsils. This means that you can infect others but not have any symptoms yourself.
If you have a chronic sore throat, you should see the doctor for a swab of the throat or at least an exam.
