Relief

Customer Question

how can I relief the discomfort in my hips and legs from lying only on my side after back surgery

Positions of Rest
You may find the positions below are more comfortable for you.

• Lie on your back with a small pillow under your head and two pillows under your knees. Folded blankets placed in pillow cases can be substituted for pillows.

OR

• Lie on either side with your knees drawn up in the fetal position. You may use a small pillow under your head.

Also, another thing I have found that works for me is to place a pillow under my hip. It cuts down on my hip digging into the mattress.

Hope this helps and take a look at that site it has some great information for caring for yourself after surgery.

Reply to Rebekah Johnson's Post: This doesn't help. I cannot lay on my back, as I stated above, I had back surgery and have to keep my body very straight. So, placing a pillow under my hips keeps me out of alignment.

I have already been to this and many other websites.

Are you lying down all of the time? Standing and walking should relieve any cramps or discomfort
that you should have after laying in the same position for a long period of time One of my patients was a 70 year old man who had gotten in a motorcycle wreck he had a broken collar bone and a broken hip so he could not be turned on one side or the other right shoulder left hip so It was very uncomfortable for him what did help was a air matress that was regulated to fit your body
and also a bar affixed to the bed that he could use to help raise himself . This may help its a memory pillow very comfortable http://www.contourliving.com/landing%20pages/contour%20cloud/ It will help immensely! hope this helps! and I hope you feel better!

Sorry, I didn't realize from your initial post that you could not lay on your back at all I thought that you had found that laying on your side was most comfortabe. Hope JoAnn's answer helps then and I will delete mine.
