I am currently taking caclium/folate supplement with a multi vitemin containing B12 and a B 12 supplement. All together I consune 531 mcg of B 12. Is this too much B12 Friends say it might be. I'm a 44 yr. old woman
It is certainly far more than you could possibly require. It is over 200 times the recommended daily allowance. There is no good evidence to suggest that such a high intake is in any way beneficial, nor is there any that it is in any way harmful. No "official" upper safe level of consumption has been set, nor have symptoms of B12 toxicity been reported.
