1) Has the device been FULLY charged or connected to the vehicle power adapter - before this started?
2) Is this the FIRST time the device has been powered on - since it was new?

Nuvi 5x/6x Language - Set to English Text.==============================Start at the MAIN screen (turn device OFF and back ON again, if needed)Press Settings (Wrench & Screwdriver icon).Scroll down until you see the "Lips" icon & touch that line.Touch the SECOND line down, which is "Text Language"Scroll UP using arrow, until you see "American English" & touch that line.Touch "Save" (box at the bottom right).Press the back-arrow until you are back to the Main Screen, and you should be all set.==============================
