Sorry I didn't see your question earlier and to hear of any issue you are having with your device.
If you still need help with this issue, may I ask:
1) The FULL Model Name & Number of the device you are working with? For example, does the device have ANY LETTERS - after the numbers - such as LM? If you can find and send back the SERIAL NUMBER, that may tell me too.
2) Did your friend tell you HOW the maps were removed from the unit?
3) Do you have a USB cable and HIGH SPEED internet access and a computer for connecting to the device?
