Hello & Welcome to Just Answer,

Sorry to hear of any issue you are having with your device.

To help you with this issue, may I ask:

1) The AGE of the device?

2) WHEN this issue first began (or was noticed)?

3) Would you like to replace the battery yourself (or with the help of a friend) - OR - Have it done for you?

Thanks

I gave the serial number. 1BS170401

IT'S THE FIRST ONES THAT CAME OUT
Customer: replied 3 months ago.
If you tell me how to get at the battery I can change it myself
Expert:  Greg A. replied 3 months ago.

I understand. That serial number tells the EXACT model - which is Nuvi 265T, but nothing else.

Can you GUESS the AGE, and tell me WHEN the battery seemed to start to fail?

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
I guess around 2008
Customer: replied 3 months ago.
the battery has been like this for a year or so
I just want to know how to open it up to change it

OK - very good.

You can usually get these batteries online (for sure) OR if you have a "battery store" close by, you may be able to get them locally.

I have a link below to where you can get them (on Amazon), and a link to a video that shows how the job is done.

NOTE: The link to Amazon is the US site, and I don't know if the seller will ship to your area. So you may want to search the Amazon site for your area for "Battery Replacement Kit for Garmin Nuvi 265T", and see what you can find there.

Please let me know what you find or if you have any more questions.

How do you rate this? I was told that for a $5.00 refundable fee I can ask a question. When they got my credit card they just happened to ad another $41.00 on to it. It's a typical internet scam which is getting to be all to common. A simple question was how do you get access to the battery in my GPS. I was told to go to YouTube. I should have known better and from now on I will go to You tube for answers first. Just an expensive lesson learned for me.

Hi again,

Let me assure you that this is NOT a scam. But perhaps you were NOT aware that you had asked your question on Just Answer (justanswer.com) - which is a pay-for-advice site.

This site is where experts answer questions and provide advice to folks just like you - for a reasonable fee. We also use the "honor system" where advice is given and if you are satisfied with the advice, you agree to compensate the expert for that help - by rating them at a high level (3-stars or more).

If you have any more questions about how the site works, you can get help at the following link.

Please let me know if you have any more questions - about your device.
