I think my device is corrupted, and that I will have to

Customer Question

I think my device is corrupted, and that I will have to format the device and restore from the backup. How do I do that?
JA: What's the make/model of your GPS unit? How old is it?
Customer: 950. It was the latest model when I bought it, so about 6 years, maybe.
JA: What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: Nothing. The device was just sitting around in its cradle for a long time.
JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: I've used "Disk Warrior" to check the media, which seems OK. I also tried to run First Aid from Apple's Disk Utility, but am advised that the First Aid process has failed
JA: Anything else you want the GPS expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: No, I don't think so .
