Customer Question

I came acrosss a Magellan Roadmate in my trunk; It is probably about 5 or6 years old. It does not work, but I wonder if this model is still current or does it have batteries. And, where can I take it to have it looked at. I live in Wilmette, which is a suburb of Chicago. Thanks for your help.
JA: What's the make/model of your GPS unit? How old is it?
Customer: All it says on the device is Magellan Roadmate - it is probably about 5-6 years old.
JA: What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: Before what popped up?
JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: We plugged it into the car (lighter)
JA: Anything else you want the GPS expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: Just want to know if we should spend any money on this or can it be repaired and if so, where.

Hello & Welcome to Just Answer,

Sorry to hear of any issue you are having with your device.

To help you with this issue, may I ask:

1) The FULL Model Number of the device you are working with? You SHOULD be able to find a label or sticker on the BACK of the unit, that has a 4-digit number right after the word "Roadmate".

2) Can you guess at when the device was last used?

3) How long was the device connected to power AND is there ANY "indicator" on the power adapter that might suggest if it is working (providing power)?

Once we know the model, we may be able to judge if it would be worth it to repair or whatever - to get it working again.

Thanks

Hi again,

I just wanted to check up and see if you had found the model number of this device yet.

I look forward to your reply here.
