I have a montana 680t with an expansion ssd. for some

Customer Question

i have a montana 680t with an expansion ssd. for some reason, every time i connect to garmin base camp, it sends all my birdseye images to the device. somehow it's always writing and same info. doesn't seem like it understands that the data is already there.
also SW updates to the ssd doesn't stick. its almost like the ssd is write protected.

Hi Jeff,

The SSD you are currently using may be faulty.

Have you tried reformatting the SSD or using a different SSD?

Pete.

If I take out the SSD and write a file to it, there is no problem.

What method are you using to write a file to it whilst it is taken out?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
USB port, windows explorer, copy/paste

Please confirm the brand and type of SSD you are using?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
uSD card from Sandisk, 64GB

Ok, so it is a microSD card...

Have you tried using a different microSD card, particularly a smaller capacity card? - above 8GB is not recommended because although larger cards will still work, they won't work as efficiently and will slow the device down...

Have you tried formatting the microSD card using the Montana?

This card has worked before. I did a reset on my Garmin unit, then it stopped working. It may have something to do with that, but I can't figure out what has changed that it doesn't work.

These cards can wear out and fail over time.

Or the card may have gotten corrupted during the reset.

Have you tried formatting the microSD card using the Montana?

Or do you have another card you can try?
