I have a VirbX and have a problem after an upgrade of the software. When the software attempts to load I have the message "Uploading" it starts and then shows "failure". also the device does not recognise the sim card and I have to take it out and then put it back before its recognised.
JA: Just to clarify, what's the exact make and model of your machine?
Customer: VIRB X
JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: Tried re downloading the software upgrade and installing.

Something has gone wrong with the software upgrade. This can happen if it was interrupted or cut off unexpectedly.

If attempts to reinstall the software upgrade did not work, then try a master reset:-

  1. Ensure the device is powered off
  2. Press and hold Down
  3. Press and immediately release Power
  4. Wait for the message "Erase all user data?"
  5. Release Down
  6. Select Yes

hi Pete, the down button is the Power button. tried both holding up and down option and then the Power button but no possibility to reset all data. Checked the instruction manual and its not mentioned how to do a reset either

Pete, I have found the reset procedure here but after the reset I still have the same problem. It tries to load the update and then shows "failure" and crashes.

If the reset did not work then the device will need to be returned to a Garmin service center:

further investigation shows that the problem may be the SD card which needs to be a quicker version
