Try this. Ok, from the main screen, click Tools, then click Settings, then click Maps, then click Info.

From the main screen, the tools icon is the wrench.Click on that, then Maps, then Map Info.What is on that page?
Do you get a blank screen? Or literally nothing happens?
It sounds like you have lost your map data. What happens if you click on Restore?

Ok, then you have definitely lost your map data. Is this a Nuvi 660 or a Zumo 660 (for motorcycles)?
Ok. Then it does indeed sound like your Nuvi has a problem. It is a 2006 model. When was the last time you updated either the firmware or the maps?
Ok, why don't you try another map update and see what happens.I have a feeling it is nothing major. A single file has become corrupted which prevents the Nuvi from loading maps files.Do an update and that file should be replaced.Let me know what happens.Steve
When you boot up the Nuvi, do you see any message about being unable to unlock maps?

No. Unplug the Nuvi - and, just like you would do normally, boot up the Nuvi and look for messages on the screen.
Ok, and no messages popped up prior to that main screen? I'll assume not.What program are you using to update maps? Webupdater? Garmin MapUpdate or something else?
