Hi there! My name is***** am a computer professional with over 15 years of experience with both Mac and Windows computers, phones, tablets, and printers and other electronic devices. It would be my pleasure to assist you with this.
After installing new software or map updates to your Magellan GPS, you'll need to reset the device. A reset ensures that you will be able to access the updated data correctly and without system errors. Resetting can also be useful as a basic troubleshooting step if the device is malfunctioning. Your Magellan GPS has a hardware reset button that you can easily access. If you will tell me the exact model of your Magellan Roadmate I can where to look for the reset button, if you have trouble finding it.
Sure. I'll be standing by until the problem is resolved.
Some Magellan Roadmates have a Reset pin hole on the bottom or on either side of the unit. If yours does, please take a pin or an end of a paperclip and insert it into the hole and push in until you feel it pop slightly, then hold it for 10 seconds. Your unit will reset itself.
Please give this a try and let me know how it works for you. If this solves the problem, would you mind taking a moment to rate my service? I'd really appreciate it! Without a rating I am not credited for my answer. If this doesn't solve the problem be sure to let me know so we can continue troubleshooting.
Thank you for that information. Please give me just a moment to locate the specs on that particular model.
Thank you. Let's try this.
If you want to turn the receiver completely off, slide the power switch to the left and hold for 3 seconds or more. (Turning the receiver completely off and then back on [Power Reset] can sometimes solve any problems encountered while using the receiver.)
Here's a link to the user manual for this product. It's in pdf format. You can save it to your computer for later viewing , or you can print it out, but it's 42 pages. Click the link below then click on the download button to access the file.
When you got your map update did you use the Smart GPS Eco tool? If not, or even if you did, let's go there now.
start by unplugging the unit, and powering it completely off by sliding the power switch to the left and holding until theunit powers off, then follow the instructions below.

Please try this and let me know the results.
Here are a couple of other pieces of information that maybe helpful:
If all else fails, let's try again to reset it:
Depending on the power switch your unit was designed with follow the instructions below:
a)Slide Switch If your unit has a Slide power switch then slide and hold the power switch in the off position for more than 8 seconds.
b)Push Down Power Button If your unit has a Push Down Power Button for a Reset pin hole on the bottom or on either side of the unit. Take a pin or an end of a paperclip and insert it into the hole and push in until you feel it pop slightly, hold it for 10 seconds. Your unit will reset itself.
c)Reset Power Switch If your unit has a Reset Power Switch then it will have a three position power switch (Reset, Off, On), if this is the case slide the switch to the reset position and hold it for 10 seconds to perform the reset.
Please keep me posted as to your progress. Thank you!
I see a potential issue based on the second screen shot. There is very little free space on the unit. I understand about the power switch. There were three options depending upon the type you have. For yours, you should slide and hold the power switch in the off position for more than 8 seconds.
Have you followed all of the instructions in my previous post? If not, please do so. Let's start by unplugging the unit from the unit, and powering it completely off by sliding the power switch to the left and holding until the unit powers off.
When you've done that let me know.
Please make sure that you hold it for a FULL 8 seconds.
