Customer Question

May Grmin GPS just askes me to "Touch dot" and this never ends. I cannot get to the menue. Do you have an idea?
JA: What's the full make/model number of your GPS unit? How old is it?
Customer: Garmin Zumo 590, about 2 yrs old
JA: How long has this been an issue? What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: I have installed the software via Basecamp this morning and since then the "Touch dot" emerged
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: I have tried to reset but it did not work. My favorite would be to reset the Garmin to factory setting and to start again
JA: Anything else you want the GPS expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: No thanks

Hi there!

The "Touch dots" are calibration points - the Zumo has entered calibration mode.

You will need to accurately touch the centre of all of the black dots.

Once you have completed the calibration, it should turn on normally again.

Kindly rate my service 5 stars at the top of your question page if my answer worked so I am rewarded for my time; tips appreciated :)
Otherwise please reply back if you need further assistance.

the calibration does not stop, the dots won´t go away. it is not possible even after ten minutes pressing the calibration points to enter navigation mode

Ok, then there is a glitch in the software if the factory reset did not work, and the device will need to be returned to Garmin for repair.
