Most of the time this is one of two issues. Either we need to reset the device to clear out the malfunction, or we need to update the software on the unit.
Lets try this master reset first.
Once reset, if the issue persists then connect your device to your computer.. Download and then install garmin express, and then use it to update the unit. Once updated, reset it again.
And it should work normally at that point.
