Hello & Welcome to Just Answer, Sorry to hear of any issue with trying to update your device. May I ask:1) The AGE of the device?2) What is the operational status of the device (does it still work properly with the current maps)?3) Do you have the USB cable for connecting the device to your computer?4) Can you double check what "program" you tried AND WHEN that was tried originally? Thanks

Hi again and thanks for that. VERY IMPORTANT questions (since this is a NEW device):Has the device been connected to the vehicle power adapter and allowed to CHARGE and initialize? This is important because it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that a device be FULLY CHARGED before starting ANY update.Plus, the device SHOULD be "ready to go" - right out of the box and AFTER it has been allowed to charge up for a bit. Thanks
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
it has been connected to the vehicle and charged

It ia connected to the USB cable and to the laptop

OK - very good.I will also assume that the device was also allowed it initialize and it was TESTED (used for a little bit) and found to be working. Let me send the process I recommend for updating the device software and/or maps. I will grab that information and post it in my next note. Thanks

thank you and I will wait for this info

Here is the recommend process - using the current web-based tool from Magellan. Please read ALL instructions here before starting the process, and do the same on each screen as you go through the process.===========================How to update maps - using "Smart GPS Eco" (replaces "Content Manager")IMPORTANT: SmartGPSEco.com uses the same username and password ***** magellangps.com. If you have purchased a product or registered your product on MagellanGPS.com, then you already have an account and you should use the same username and password ***** SmartGPSEco.com.NOTES:- It is recommended that the device be FULLY charged before starting this process.- It can take a LONG TIME (one or more HOURS) to update maps.- HIGH SPEED internet connection is recommended for map updates. To check that you have the latest maps for your device (and update):1) Connect your device to your computer using a USB cable.2) Log into smartgpseco.com with your MagellanGPS account. If you do not have an account, one can be created when that page is accessed.3) Click on the Update tab.4) Click Download if you see a notification for a map update. Note: Do NOT disconnect your device while the map update is installing. Map update may take up to a few hours to install.5) Unplug the USB cable and disconnect your device from the computer. Your device map should now be up to date.=======================That is the process. Please let me know if you have any questions about the process or any questions as it takes place. Thanks, ***** *****

Thanks for that information. Let me know what you see on the device after you try again and have removed the device from the computer and TESTED it again - in your vehicle. Thanks, ***** *****
