The screen "device needs to be restarted" is due to a known manufacturing defect in the unit.

First, try connecting the device to a computer (using USB cable that you can get at any computer store) and try to update its software (free) using Content Manager software from this link :
http://www.magellangps.com/Content-Manager-Software-for-Windows

If problem persists, the device will need to be returned to Magellan.

You will need to request a repair and get a Return Authorization (RA) number by phone. An RA number is ***** prior to shipping your product to Magellan for repair.Hours: Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PST/PDT
