Hello!I am Andy and I will be glad to help you out with your issue today. Please Reply to me with doubts / questions till you are 100% satisfied. As per the symptoms, either the display digitaizer has failed of the main board is malfunctioning.Garmin does not support this unit for repair as it is an old model, I am really sorry about that. So, you may buy a replacement display on Ebay and replace it yourself. (youtube has instructional videos, search it there).Else your best option is to simply buy a new unit as it will also come preinstalled with latest maps. I would recommend this option.I would recommend Garmin Nuvi 2595LMT 5" Sat Nav with Europe Maps, Lifetime Map Updates and Traffic Alerts, and Bluetooth. Hi Andy, thanks for you reply about my Garmin 660.
I have to say that the reply does not tell me anything I didn't know or helps me overcome the problem.
I know that this Garmin is no longer servicable from Garmin technical support
I have in fact already brought a nuvi 2595LMT from Amazon!
I was hoping to get the Garmin 660 working again and give it to my son.
I appreciate that the problem cannot be cured because of the circumstances rather that any lack of expertise, but trust you will agree that I cannot give the reply a favourable rateing
Best regards,

Hi Andy your second reply tells me a lot I didn't know.
I have in fact replaced the battery following the youtube instructions, without too much difficulty apart from two of the screws being tight but hopefully they will be easier to undo a second time.
The links show how to open the case mainly for battery replacement - am I correct in thinking that the display and digitiser units are obvious and it is only removing the old and replacing it with new making sure that any connections are maintained?
I accept that this reply is new knowledge and should overcome my problems and I have rated your answer favourably
Best regards
Hi John, am I correct in thinking that the display and digitiser units are obvious and it is only removing the old and replacing it with new making sure that any connections are maintained?Yes, you are absolutely correct. The second link that I have provided shows how to replace display on a nuvi 350. Steps would be similar for your 660 model. If you have any question, feel free to reply to this anytime. Thanks,Andy
