computer dosent detect Garmin

What have you tried so far?: I have re booted, I have disconnected and reconnected Garmin all to no avail, and the garmin updater cant find it also.

Hi,

Sorry for the delay - I went off for the evening.

If you are using a Windows PC there is the possibility that Windows installed its own driver - which will prevent the Garmin driver from installing.

What you need to do, is disconnect the Nuvi from your computer. Uninstall the WebUpdater program - reboot the computer.

Then, without the Nuvi connected to your computer - install the Garmin Communicator located here - again reboot. You can reinstall the Webupdater program - but with the communicator - the majority of update functions can be accomplished with the Web Browser.

Once you have the Garmin Communicator installed - the computer should recognize your Nuvi. It is important you install it without the Garmin connected to the computer.

Thank you, XXXXX XXXXX did not work, computer could not "Find Device". Communicator Test Page also could not find device.

Have you ever had this working before?

Are you using a USB charging cable? A charging cable will not work with the computer - except to charge the Garmin. A charging cable is missing the data pins.

Have your tired another USB port on the computer?

Are you connecting directly to the computer's USB port - and not using a Hub? The Nuvi will not work through a USB hub.

I suspect the USB cable you were using was just a charging cable - with no data wires.
