can you track a G P S system if its been stolen?
Hello & Welcome, Sorry I didn't see your question earlier, and sorry to hear of the loss of your GPS.Unfortunately, most personal GPS units can not be tracked. This is because they are "receivers" of information from the satellite signals that are used to plot their location on the screen of the unit only. The do NOT "transmit" this information out to any other network, so they can not be tracked by any outside company or organization. Now what you can do if you have the Make and serial number of the unit, you CAN file a police report that it was stolen AND you can notify the manufacturer of the device that it was stolen also. That way it will be put on a "black list" and if anyone every tries to register it or update the software or maps on the unit, they will not be able to do that. Again, I am sorry to hear of the loss of your unit, and I hope you understand that I will only give you a correct and honest answer.==================================================If you would like any additional information or have more questions please don’t hesitate to ask! I will be happy to continue further and do everything I can to provide you with the service you seek.My answer may not be "good news", but is an accurate & honest answer. Many times the only "fix" will be to repair or replace a failed or stolen device, so please do not hold that against me.Take Care, Greg A.
