My etrex legend has not been used for a couple of years. I installed fresh batteries and sat the device outside to acquire satilites. After more than 30 minutes, only two satilites were acquired. Am I doing something wrong or did the device forget what it supposed to do?
Hi and thank you for your question. I will be happy to assist you.Do you have a pc interface cable?
Yes
A software update may help your device reconnect with satellites.Connect your device to your computer and download Garmin Webupdater. It can be downloaded by clicking here. Once you have it downloaded and installed, run the program. Click next on the first screen, on the second one it will automatically detect your unit. Once your unit is detected click next. Then follow the on screen instructions for the updates. After the initial update, it will also tell you there are additional updates, select any additional updates you wish to install and click next. Once the updates are complete, unplug your unit and allow it to restart
Sorry for the delay, I needed a 9-pin to USB adapter to connect the Garmin patch cable to my notebook. I got that adapter this afternoon.
I followed your answer and downloaded an update from Garmin. The GPS seems to be working fine.
Thanks for your help!!!
Not a problem. Have a wonderful night!
Last week I rated your answer, and your answer got my eTrex working great.
Thanks again,
Earl
