My Garmin Edge 705 won't power up. When charger plugged in the Garmin name & battery picture is shown but when unplugged it just goes dead. Unit is almost two years old. Any ideas?
Already Tried: Soft reboot

Tried master reset but no response from the unit. Note: when plugged into the charger the battery picture is grey (it nornally shows the level of charge). Smae thing when plugged intop the usb port on a computer.

Hi Glyn,As per the symptoms, its a hardware failure in the main board and can also happen due to malfunctioning battery. But if the unit does not turn on even when connected to a power source, its likely a main board or firmware issue. You need to send the unit for repair to Garmin. Hi Andy,
I guess I need to follow this through with Garmin before I can confirm it is okay. I have no problem with your answer so far provided the diagnosis is confirmed
Hope that's okay
