Customer Question

When I turn on my GPS unit ( Garmin 12 ) the message that show's up on the screen is UPLOAD NOT PRESENT. Do you have any idea what's causing this.

Tried different batterie's.

Let's try a factory reset and see if this resolves the issue.

To perform the master reset:

 

  1. Press and hold the MARK key while switching on
  2. Highlight YES, NO, YES, NO, YES
  3. Press ENTER

The GPS 12, 12MAP, 12XL, or 12CX is now reset. You will want to leave the device outside with a clear view of the sky for a minimum of 20 minutes to acquire satellite data.

I tried the factory reset and it did not work. Any other idea's ?

Unfortunately you're experiencing hardware failure and nothing else can be done on your end. Call Garmin at 1-800-800-1020. If the device is in warranty they will ship a replacement out to you. If it is out of warranty I would replace the unit instead of worrying with repairing.
