I have a nuvi 265w and cannot calibrate the screen. I have tried to hold the on-off button to "on" for thirty seconds but it just boots the unit. Can you please help?

To recalibrate the touchscreen on your nuvi 200 follow the steps below:

  1. Have the unit turned OFF and unplugged from power.
  2. Slide the power switch to the ON position and hold for about 45 seconds.
  3. A message will display on the screen: Press Dot.
  4. Once this message displays, release the Power button.
  5. Press in the center of the Dot.
  6. Keep pressing in the center of the Dot as it moves around the screen.
  7. Once this is complete, there will be a message: Calibration Complete.
  8. Touch Ok and the unit will restart.

The touchscreen will now be recalibrated.

In my original question I stated that I had held the on off button and nothing happened. You answer just increased the time to hold it and still nothing happened. I guess my unit must be junk and ready to throw out. Thanks for the effort but I cannot pay for the same info I gave in my question.

As per the symptoms, its hardware / firmware failure.

In that case dont worry, your unit has 1 year warranty. Garmin will give you free repair / replacement.

Please complete these two easy steps:

Contact Garmin Technical Support to receive an RMA number.

Call or e-mail a Garmin Technical Support Specialist to describe the problem and request a return material authorization (RMA) number. You will need to provide the unit's serial number (if applicable), your return shipping address and a daytime phone number.

Ship the unit, along with the RMA number, to Garmin.

Once you have received the RMA number, you also will be told what dock number to include in the shipping address. Ship the unit (insured) to the following address and include the assigned dock number:
