My car 2005 yukon denali wont start. It makes a clicking

Customer Question

My car 2005 yukon denali wont start. It makes a clicking sound and when i leave the key in the ignition i hear a faint sound similiar to a heartbeat and my radio and temp on rearview mirror pulse/flash to the sound. I tried jump starting my vehicle from another and nothing but the click, click click sound. The multimeter I have reads 11.69 from the battery terminals. Please help!

good afternoon my name is ***** ***** I will assist

your battery is very low at 11.6. should be 12.6 volts. it may not take a jump from the battery failure internally.

I would start by replacing the battery and then have the charging system checked to be sure the alternator is ok.

Its not the battery. I had the battery recharged to 12.5 and it worked for a day. The next day it wouldnt start and was drained again to 11.6. Today it was drained again after being recharged yesterday to 12.5. Which components do i check besides the alternator?

Todays voltage of my battery is reading 9.2

the alternator is where you start. also, have the battery load tested to be sure it is not shorted internally.
