Ran my 2003 Duramax through a puddle and it stalled out.

Customer Question

Ran my 2003 Duramax through a puddle and it stalled out. Engine will now turn over but not crank up.
JA: Does the engine spark at all? Is there a trouble code or is your "check engine light" on?
Customer: It's a diesel, no spark. Codes came back as "injector circuit malfunction" on all 8 cylinders
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself?
Customer: Yes
JA: Great! What have you tried so far?
Customer: Bleeding the fuel filter, continued cranking & hand priming the fuel system has led to a few seconds of running but it just shuts off again
JA: Is there anything else the GM Mechanic should be aware of about your GM?
Customer: Not that I know off
JA: OK. Got it. I'm sending you to a secure page on JustAnswer so you can place the $5 fully-refundable deposit now. While you're filling out that form, I'll tell the GM Mechanic about your situation and then connect you two.

How long has it been since the puddle? Has everything had a chance to dry out?

Have you attempted to pull the connector on the FICM and see if there is water intrusion?

Fuel tank is full, but gauge is reading empty

Do you have dual tanks or single?

It sounds like the fuel pump connector came loose or a connector between the fuel pump and the engine compartment is loose or corroded.

When you turn the key to the run position can you hear the fuel pump make a brief buzz?

Expert:  Jared D replied 4 months ago.

I would check the connector on the top of the fuel pump (probably have to lower the tank a little), and then the ground shown in this diagram.
