GMC Sonoma 4x4: My 2001 Sonoma 4.3 173 K miles stopped dead

Customer Question

My 2001 Sonoma 4.3 173 K miles stopped dead (not even flashers worked) while on a curvy Sierra foothills road. Coasted to a stop. Checked for loose/corroded bat cables, but all OK. Before calling AAA I tried ignition again and it started right off. Drove home and had electronics checked, but nothing found. A week later I had a leaky intake manifold repaired (3 days ago), drove it home yesterday it and ran perfectly. 2 hours later I started it up and noticed a severe misfire (like 5 of 6 firing) and thought the tech left off a plug wire. Drove 1 miile back to service with truck running rough and engine light came on. Shut off truck at service, but when they turned it on 10 min. later it was running perfectly again. I left truck there and they will check again, but they don't have a clue. Nothing definitive showed up on scan when researching engine light. Are these 2 incidents possibly related? Do you have any ideas?

Hi, I’m Ron and I can help you.I have been in this business since 1975 and also teach automotive repair. I am confidentwe can resolve your problem together. Please understand that I don't know your skilllevel. I can't see, smell, hear, or touch the vehicle either, so it may take a few replies toget to satisfactory results. Please be patient!I also try to give all of the information you may need, expecting a “positive rating” inreturn. I will also continue assisting you after you have rated me, if necessary. If thereis any reason I cannot get a positive rating, please let me know why “in advance”, so Ican go another direction for you. I am sorry you’re having this problem; I’ll help youthrough it.Still can be a bad connection from the power distribution box to the main fuse box, OR power from the battery to the power distribution box. Check for corrosion at ALL connections. Thanks, Ron
