I have a 1999 GMC Serria 1500 series truck it had a 305

Customer Question

I have a 1999 GMC Serria 1500 series truck it had a 305 engine in it but I bought a new 350 engine and put in it and bought everything brand new and replaced all parts and put a new computer from a 350 and it still seems like it wants to stall or don't get enough gas. What could it be I've tried everything.

Hi there, I am Cam.

Sorry to hear about your issue. Can you tell me if you checked the fuel pump pressure?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
No
Expert:  Gm Tech (Cam) replied 10 months ago.

Ok I Would start there. Pressure should be between 60-66 psi. IF the pressure is low, we may have a bad filter, bad regulator on the spider assembly, bad spider assembly or a bad pump. lets start with the pressure.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Ok I will try that. I don't have to do any thing with the computer? I had a 305 computer in and I got a used 350 used computer and put in, so there's nothing I have to do with that.

Did you program the PCM to the 5.7 or the 5.0?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
I didn't program nothing. So how do I go about doing that because where none of dealerships will touch it.
Expert:  Gm Tech (Cam) replied 10 months ago.

It requires first the Vin of the 5.7L truck and then their programming tool. ITs not something you can do without it.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Where do you go and get this done
Expert:  Gm Tech (Cam) replied 10 months ago.

Given that I work at a dealer, I would get it at a dealer.
