GMC Safari: I have 99 safari. Took to my mechanic for

Customer Question

Hi I have 99 safari. Took to my mechanic for routine maintenance. Noticed tranny mount and one motor mount broken. Replaced with OEM parts. Car in drive at idle has big vibration. In park, reverse, neutra,l idle, smooth. Only in drive very tough at idle. Changed other motor mount. Still no change. Then changed all three mounts with OEM from same manufacturer. For first ten miles of stop go driving vibration was gone in all gear selector positions....then the vibration returned as bad as ever in drive. After first tranny and one motor mount change vibration would begin when coming to stop around 9 mph. After changing all three mounts to same manufacture vibration after initially being gone as I said for ten miles of driving or so began again coming to stop around 3 mph. The mechanic is stumped. He is thinking of reinstalling old mounts and see if vibration disappear s.... Even though they are both cracked. Do you have any ideas suggestions what is causing vibration while coming to stop and at idle while in drive. Why after vibration went away after replacing all three mounts would it return in a few miles? Could d this still be mount issue? Tranny issue? Torque converter issue? The car does not overheat and otherwise drives fine. Thanks for anything. dan
