replaced radio with identical features in my 2005 gmc sierra radio locked upon turning ignition on can i reset security code an how?
Thanks for trusting us with your problem. I have trained in the automotive field and currently work as a shop foreman. I will be helping you today.Gm has two radios. Depending on the model it maybe unlocked without a scan tool but if you have the other model it will not work. Lets see if we can get it.GM DELCO THEFTLOCK RADIO UNLOCK CODE: 1. Press and hold presets 2 and 3 for about 5 to 10 seconds until you get 3 digits on your display. This is the first 3 of 6 digits you will need, so write 'em down. 2. After doing step one and writing down the code, immediately press the AM/FM button to get the last 3 of the 6 numbers you'll need, and write 'em down. (if you wait too long between steps 1 and 2 and the LOC code displays again, just start over).
With ignition on radio off time and locked are displayed nothing is happening
Have you tried the buttons?Does the radio say RDS in white on the lower right corner of the screen?
No it does not
If 8 unsuccessful tries are made to unlock the radio, the display will return to the LOC display, but when the SET button is pressed, INOP will be displayed. This means that the radio must be left powered up for 1 hour with the battery and the ignition applied before any more attempts to unlock the radio can be made. Anytime INOP is displayed, 3 more attempts will be allowed after the 1 hour waiting period with the battery and ignition applied. So we will have to wait. Than get me the numbers. I will get the code you need. After the on hour GM DELCO THEFTLOCK RADIO UNLOCK CODE: 1. Press and hold presets 2 and 3 for about 5 to 10 seconds until you get 3 digits on your display.
