gmc Sierra 1500 Classic SLE: What does disconnecting the two

Customer Question

What does disconnecting the two Onstar antennas do to a 2008 1500 Sierra 5.3L V8, they where pulled from the back of the Onstar module. I got a P2135 engine coded and reduced engine power right after disconnecting. Is it safe to run the truck without the Onstar antennas plugged in????

Hello and thank you for trusting me with your question. My name is XXXXX XXXXX X will do my best to help you with your GMC problem.

Disconnecting the onstar antennas will only affect onstar operation. It is safe to operate the vehicle with the onstar antennas disconnected. The P2135 code and reduced engine power message is due to a problem in the throttle position sensor at the throttle body. This is a common problem on these trucks. GM has issued a technical service bulletin to clean the throttle body and then replace the throttle position sensor cover on the throttle body with new design cover part number 19259452. This will eliminate the P2135 code.
