Typically it is the Amplifier, but loss of sound can be caused by a Speaker / s or the Audio Unit
Some times a Speaker can over heat or be bad & cause the Amp to shut down, until it "resets"
The Audio Unit uses DATA to turn Amplifier On & Off, & the Audio Unit may need Updating

Use of Dealer Scan Tool is needed to test prior to replacing

apprx 1 hour labor
