Looking for an in depth answer on where to mount GMC part 25833011, front license plate bracket. Part matched by the dealer to my VIN but the bracket doesn't seem to fit the lower grill well at all.

I've looked at the schematic before. My concern is the four pilot holes don't match the holes in the grill. The top of the bracket extends nearly 1 1/2" beyond the grill and the sides of the bracket don't match the faschia, either.
Am I supposed to force the bracket into the holes in the grill? Or should I drill the pilot holes throught the lattice of the grill where it doesn't marry up?
The bracket should match up to the holes in the grille and should not extend above the grille. Does the bracket itself have a part number moulded into it? If so, does it match the part number you provided (25833011)?
The bracket is the correct part number and has the number moulded into it. The bracket doesn't extend vertically above the lower grill but forward of the grill.
The bracket should fit flush to the grille and the holes should match up. Unless the bracket is upside down, I am afraid I cannot help you much. I will opt out so other experts can help you with this.
