GMC Sierra SLE: I have a 2005 GMC Sierra SLE 4 door 4x4 with

Resolved Question:

I have a 2005 GMC Sierra SLE 4 door 4x4 with 5.3L. I keep getting a P0455 and P0455 PD code on actron cp9125 Scanner. I have already replaced the gas cap but sometimes I get the lose gas cap on dash. The tank has been filled after the gas pump kicks off. Could I have got a bad cap from gm or is it something else?
Thanks

ASE Master Guru :

Hello, my name isXXXXX is possible that you have a defective cap but it is more likely that the EVAP Canister Vent Solenoid Valve has failed. Very common on this truck. To verify, use scan tool to command vent valve on/off while closely listening for audible "click" noise from fuel tank area. If scanner is unable to perform this test the remove Canister Vent Solenoid Valve from vehicle and bench test. Apply 12volts to one terminal and ground the other. If no "clicking" is heard then replace valve.

Customer:

Ok I will check that out first thing tomorrow morning. How expensive is the solenoid? Do you know the GM or AC Delco part number?

ASE Master Guru :

I do not know part number. Approx 65-75 dollars.

Customer:

Could you email the diagram and the information you posted. I just printed it out and it cuts off part of the diagram.

ASE Master Guru :

How's that?

Customer:

Still no good the only number visible is 3

Customer:

the upper left keeps on getting cut off when I print out the diagram

Customer:

None of the diagrams have even showed a number 2 when I have printed them out

ASE Master Guru :

I give up, the solenoid I am referring to is to the left of the number 3 just left of the bolt head at the top of the diagram.

ASE Master Guru :

I appologize, I cant figure out why it wont load properly

ASE Master Guru :

The valve has the pipe with the 90 degree fitting going into it

Customer:

I think I should be able to figure it out in the AM when I get under the truck. It has a wire and a hose on it. What are the rough dimensions?

ASE Master Guru :

about 6 inch by 4 inch wide

ASE Master Guru :

may be 2 inch thick

ASE Master Guru :

it will have one electrical connector with two wires in it

Customer:

ok thank you. I will look in the AM

Customer: replied 4 years ago.

I have not given my opinion on your answer yet. I thought I had asked you the bulleting number and AC Delco part number and didn't get a response. That information would be very helpful.

Thanks

Doug
