GM 1500: 2002 1500 pickup 5.3 liter...starts cold runs drives

2002 1500 pickup 5.3 liter...starts cold runs drives and idles fine for about 15 minutes. then rpm drops and it dies. will restart and run 5 minutes...then dies. will restart again run for 2 minutes...after that it may start or it may not...any ideas. ps changed fuel pump last year, and fuel filter last week.

Hello, my name is Bobby. Thank you for the question. It does sound like a fuel system issue. Most of the time this is caused by a failure in the fuel pressure regulator. These fail all of the time and cause this. If you start the engine and allow it to run you can pull the vacuum line from the regulator and see if fuel comes out. If it does then the regulator is bad. If not then you need a pressure tester to go further. The regulator is located on the fuel rail where the injectors are.
