Can a key from another GM vehicle be recoded to my second hand 2012 GM Equanox?

Hi there,
Yes, you should be able to do that.
BUT the junk yard key blade will need to swapped with a blade from one of YOUR old keys.
Which can be done, have done it many times for our Australian equivalents.
The clincher is you can't buy an uncut blade for your style of key from GM.
BUT you may also be able to do something along these lines, if your key is like this:
