GM 502 Ramjet: Installing 502 ramjet and because of clearance

This answer was rated:

Installing 502 ramjet and because of clearance issues using shorty headers which block installation of knock sensor in recomended position. Is there any other alternatives for this sensor...thanks
Hello! Welcome to justanswer!

The knock sensor can be installed anywhere on the block and still work good enough.
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Ok sounds good, but this one was designed to go into water jacket and I cannot find any other NPT threaded ports in block.Any suggestions

Since I was requested, here are my suggestions.

Hi, glad to be of help. It doesn't necessarily have to be installed in a water jacket however perhaps a 90 degree fitting placed in original location will work for you.

Alternatives
Relocating sensor or using a 90 degree fitting on the KS to help w/ clearance issues.

Knock Sensor Installation:

1. Install the knock sensor, GM Part Number 10456208, in the boss on the lower right-hand side of the block, just forward of the starter motor. Note: If the knock sensor cannot be installed in this position due to interference with the transmission
dipstick for example, it may be installed on the opposite side of the engine. If the knock sensor is installed on the left-hand side of the engine, the wiring harness will have to be modified. Modify the harness by separating the B+ wire from the knock sensor wire. This will allow the knock sensor wire to reach the knock sensor.
