You do not need the VIN from the vehicle the engine came out of. The PCM will have to be programmed to your current VIN to make it all work together. Since this is a custom installation, it will require custom tuning. This is not something you do at home yourself unless you have the $600 + programming interface and lots of experience programming ECMs. You will need to have someone custom tune the PCM for you, this normally costs around $200. There are several sources on the internet. Most likely you will need to call or email them about your specific needs.
