1993 GMC 6.5 turbo diesel. one ton dually---- K 3500 sierra extended cab. I have a rythmic banging sound from the passenger side dash board when I turn off the engine. It's is a loud banging pulsing sound, very rythmic, that stops when the engine turns off. It seem to come from behind the glove box compartment in the dash, and a little bit lower. Also, when I start the engine, when I turn on the key to warm the glow plugs it starts to bang and eventually goes off, after starting. Bob

That is your recirculation door actuator. If you look up from under the dash you can see it above the blower motor and between the two HVAC cases.
