How do I reset the anti theft deterrent system on my 2008 GM van?

It is a 2008 express cargo van

Turn the key on, with the engine OFF.Try to start the engine, then release the key to ON, Engine will not start. Watch the security telltale, after about 10 mins, it will turn OFF.
Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds.
Repeat steps 1 through 4 two more times for a total of 3 cycles/30 minutes. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle.

Start the engine .

We tried this and after 10 minutes (actually 11 minutes) the security light did not go off...

PLease confirm you cycled to start to do this. IF so, try a reset.
Take the battery cables off the battery, hold the ends together for 10 seconds then attach them to the battery and see what happens. This will reset the whole vehicle.

We will need to try this in the morning as we have now abandoned the vehicle for the evening.

Nothing worked, we ended up calling a wrecker to bring it to the dealership.

These new ones are bad for this, when they go, it needs programming from the dealer.
